A leading Commodities & Energy Trading firm is looking for a C# Developer to join its Middle & Back Office technology team. This role supports a suite of systems responsible for trade capture, risk, PnL, settlements and reporting across markets including Power, Gas, LNG, Oil and Environmental products.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 3–6 years of C#/.NET experience who enjoys working on business-critical backend systems and wants to deepen their experience within a trading environment. The role sits outside of the front office, with a stronger focus on data integrity, processing, and operational reliability.

🧩 The Role

You will play a key role in developing and enhancing backend platforms that support post-trade workflows, risk aggregation, and operational reporting. These systems are critical to ensuring accurate trade lifecycle management and are heavily used by operations, risk, finance, and regulatory teams.

The role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, system integration, and production support. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across middle and back office functions, helping to deliver scalable and robust solutions.

There is also opportunity to contribute to ongoing platform improvements, including modernisation, performance optimisation, and architectural enhancements.

🛠 Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C#/.NET backend services supporting trade processing, risk, and reporting
• Work on system integrations across trading, risk, and finance platforms
• Contribute to technical design and architecture discussions
• Support and enhance batch processing, data pipelines, and reconciliation processes
• Investigate and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and data accuracy
• Collaborate with operations, risk, and finance stakeholders to deliver system improvements
• Contribute to testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement of engineering practices

🎯 Required Background

• 3–6 years of professional experience with C# and .NET (Core or Framework)
• Strong experience building backend systems, APIs, or service-oriented architectures
• Solid understanding of data processing and relational databases (SQL)
• Experience working on business-critical systems with a focus on reliability and accuracy

Desirable:

• Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to distributed systems or event-driven architectures
• Previous experience in financial services, trading, or other data-heavy environments

A background in commodities trading is not required, but an interest in financial systems and data-driven platforms is beneficial.
