Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with 8+ years of hands‑on experience to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for our Sydney‑based product and engineering teams. You will be a key enabler of rapid, reliable software delivery across multiple cloud platforms and microservices environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure ARM/Bicep.
- Administer and optimise containerised environments (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, or similar).
- Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including networking, security, logging, and monitoring.
- Implement observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, New Relic).
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, and security teams to embed DevSecOps practices into the SDLC.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues rapidly, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive incident management.
- Automate routine operations tasks (backups, patching, deployments, scaling) and contribute to SRE/operational excellence initiatives.
- Document architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5+ years in a DevOps / Platform / Cloud Engineering role.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Linux/Unix administration and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Proven experience with one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expertise in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Solid understanding of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, and related ecosystems).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus + Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk, Datadog).
- Familiarity with security best practices, including IAM, network security, secrets management, and compliance frameworks.
