Internship | Innovative Software Application/Tooling (with AI/ML component)
For our office in Leuven, we are looking for highly qualified and motivated professionals like you. If you think you have what it takes to keep Septentrio firmly in Pole Position, get in touch.
We need you for the position of Innovative Software Application - Tooling (with AI-ML component)
The Job
To be an intern at Septentrio is not only a learning opportunity, but also a chance to apply your theoretical knowledge in a real-world, high-impact environment. You will work on advanced technologies, tackle meaningful challenges, and contribute valuable insights. In our international environment, you are treated as a professional from day one.
Description Of The Project
GPS/GNSS positioning is becoming a core enabler in IoT, autonomous systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Septentrio’s GNSS receivers play an important role thanks to their accuracy, resilience, and flexible integration capabilities.
This internship focuses on exploring innovative software solutions and interfaces that enhance how users interact with and extract value from Septentrio receivers. You will investigate how to translate key receiver strengths such as anti-jamming, anti-spoofing, and signal resilience into intuitive software tools, monitoring systems, or cloud-based applications.
As part of the project, you will also explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) can be applied to GNSS data and to the receiver interfaces (for example in anomaly detection, intelligent monitoring, data analysis, or predictive insights, natural language configuration), as one of several possible approaches to enhance the solution.
The objective is to design a solution that helps extend Septentrio’s core technology into easy-to-use, scalable systems for applications such as UAVs, security monitoring, IoT networks, or other autonomous systems.
Responsibilities Of The Intern
- Gather requirements and propose an innovative software concept leveraging Septentrio receiver capabilities
- Explore different approaches (including AI/ML where relevant) to enhance GNSS data usability and insights
- Design and prototype user-friendly interfaces, tools, or applications
- Connect receiver data to modern software ecosystems (e.g., cloud platforms, APIs, API’s for AI, dashboards)
- Evaluate use cases such as UAVs, networks, and autonomous systems
- Create a high-level system architecture and design
- Develop a working prototype or demonstrator
- Document your solution and make it accessible for broader adoption
Your main goal is to drive innovation in how GNSS data is used and experienced, with AI/ML as a potential enabler—not a requirement.
Your qualifications
You are studying IT Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
You have:
- Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or similar
- Interest in software development, data processing, or system integration
- Basic understanding or curiosity about AI/ML concepts (nice to have, not mandatory)
- Experience with Linux/Windows environments
Nice to have:
- Experience with data analysis or AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, APIs, MQTT, REST, JSON
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana or similar)
- Interest in GNSS, signal processing, or interference detection
- Experience with UI/UX design or app development (Android/iOS)
You are an independent and flexible thinker with a strong innovative mindset, eager to explore new technologies and approaches.
Our Offer
We offer a full-time internship of 3 to 6 months, with flexibility to adapt to your academic schedule. Throughout the internship, you will benefit from regular guidance and close collaboration with experienced team members, allowing you to develop both technical and professional skills.
Our offices are based in a vibrant, welcoming environment, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
