Our client, a leading organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking a Cloud Operations Technical Lead to drive cloud strategy, operational excellence, and platform reliability.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and manage a team of cloud engineers delivering scalable cloud solutions
- Define and implement cloud strategies aligned to wider business and technology objectives
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security across cloud environments
- Act as a key interface between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of priorities and timelines
- Support production releases, ensuring alignment with platform engineering and DevOps standards
- Oversee incident management processes and participate in on-call support when required
- Drive automation, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives across cloud platforms
- Monitor cloud environments to optimise cost, performance, and efficiency
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors
Experience Required
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles, with leadership responsibility
- Strong hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing technical teams
- Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure as code, particularly using Terraform
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines within modern DevOps environments
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, operational resilience, and production support models
- Experience working within structured IT service environments with SLAs and SLOs
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within a financial services or highly regulated environment
- Knowledge of cloud governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and cost optimisation tools
- Exposure to containerisation and modern application deployment practices
- Experience working with Azure DevOps or similar tooling
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
