Cloud Operations Lead

Our client, a leading organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking a Cloud Operations Technical Lead to drive cloud strategy, operational excellence, and platform reliability.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage a team of cloud engineers delivering scalable cloud solutions
• Define and implement cloud strategies aligned to wider business and technology objectives
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security across cloud environments
• Act as a key interface between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of priorities and timelines
• Support production releases, ensuring alignment with platform engineering and DevOps standards
• Oversee incident management processes and participate in on-call support when required
• Drive automation, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives across cloud platforms
• Monitor cloud environments to optimise cost, performance, and efficiency
• Manage relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors

Experience Required

• Minimum 7+ years’ experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles, with leadership responsibility
• Strong hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure
• Proven experience managing and developing high-performing technical teams
• Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure as code, particularly using Terraform
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines within modern DevOps environments
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, operational resilience, and production support models
• Experience working within structured IT service environments with SLAs and SLOs

Desirable Skills

• Experience working within a financial services or highly regulated environment
• Knowledge of cloud governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and cost optimisation tools
• Exposure to containerisation and modern application deployment practices
• Experience working with Azure DevOps or similar tooling
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
