About the Client

We’re building the orchestration OS for healthcare—unifying fragmented systems and enabling governed, auditable AI agents at scale. This is not a chatbot project. It’s systems engineering + safety + workflow intelligence at the point of care. You will be working with an experienced and strong founding team.

What you’ll build

You’ll own the core backend of agent runtime that executes workflows across systems with approvals, audit trails, and strict safety rails.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the core backend services (Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot).
• Build durable workflow execution (timers, retries, idempotency, compensation) using a workflow engine (Temporal preferred).
• Implement governance primitives: RBAC, policy checks, approval gates, audit logging, versioning/rollback.
• Define the platform’s internal APIs (REST external, gRPC internal) and service boundaries.
• Own reliability: observability, on-call hygiene, incident response patterns, performance and scaling.
• Partner with integration/data engineers to consume normalized workflow instance/event streams safely and consistently.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years backend/platform engineering experience (Kotlin/Java).
• Proficiency in database design and management (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Deep production experience in Kotlin/Java + Spring Boot (or equivalent JVM stack).
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals (consistency, idempotency, retries, async patterns).
• Experience designing secure enterprise software (authn/authz, secrets management, audit logs).
• Comfortable working in a small team: you can ship and you can design.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS.
• Temporal/Cadence/Conductor/Airflow-like orchestration experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Experience in Celery/Prefect
• Experience working with AI/ML models.
