TECH LEAD/SENIOR FULLSTACK ENGINEER

Svitla Systems, Inc.
Ukraine · Internship · Not Applicable

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Tech Lead/Senior Full-Stack Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is a global developer of technology platforms that develop temperature control products.

You'll serve as the anchor engineer for a new AI-enabled operational monitoring and decision-support platform in the cold-chain shipping space. It is a senior, hands-on leadership role for a builder who can help shape the initial architecture, define engineering standards, and lead the technical implementation of a platform that integrates IoT telemetry, shipment workflow data, operational analytics, and future AI-driven capabilities. It's not a maintenance role, nor is it a narrowly defined feature factory position.

This individual must be comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where requirements are evolving, business priorities are closely tied to real-world operational outcomes, and the engineering team must help translate business and logistics workflows into scalable software systems. The right candidate will be equally comfortable discussing architecture with technical stakeholders, refining platform direction with business leadership, building backend APIs, and guiding the structure of internal operational dashboards and exception-management tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of professional software engineering.
  • Strong understanding of building production-grade backend services in Python.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another computer-related degree.
  • Understanding of building modern web applications with React.
  • In-depth understanding of designing REST APIs and service-oriented application architectures.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
  • Knowledge of AWS-based application design and cloud-native delivery patterns.
  • Expertise in leading or serving as the senior technical anchor on small to mid-sized engineering teams.
  • Experience working in environments where business requirements were incomplete, evolving, or operationally complex.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with executives, product leaders, and operations stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding, testing, CI/CD, and production support expectations.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Understanding of event-driven architectures using AWS-native services.
  • Familiarity with IoT, logistics, supply chain, telemetry-heavy, or operational monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with anomaly detection, predictive analytics, or AI-assisted operational tooling.
  • Experience with internal business dashboards, exception management tools, or enterprise workflow applications.
  • Experience guiding engineering practices in distributed or nearshore teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of the initial platform foundation.
  • Build and guide the implementation of backend services, APIs, and application workflows using Python-based technologies.
  • Help define and guide frontend architecture for internal operational dashboards, exception consoles, and administrative tooling.
  • Establish engineering best practices for code quality, testing, security, observability, deployment, and maintainability.
  • Translate loosely defined business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Work closely with leadership, operations stakeholders, and other technical team members to refine requirements and reduce ambiguity.
  • Define patterns for integrating shipment workflow data, telemetry streams, carrier APIs, and operational event handling.
  • Support platform decisions related to AWS architecture, API design, data modeling, service boundaries, and event-driven processing
  • Mentor other engineers and help raise the technical maturity of the team.
  • Contribute directly as a senior individual contributor while also functioning as a practical technical leader.

WE OFFER

  • US and EU projects based on advanced technologies.
  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience.
  • Regular performance appraisals to support your growth.
  • Flexibility in workspace, either remote or in one of our development offices.
