The Front End Developer / UI Designer is responsible for delivering intuitive, user-centred digital experiences by combining interface design and front-end development, ensuring accessible, responsive, and high-quality solutions aligned to user, business, and technical needs.

This is a 12 month contract role.

Requirements

What you'll do:

Design and iterate user-centric interfaces, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes based on user feedback.
Translate usability insights and research findings into actionable UI improvements.
Develop responsive UI components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
Collaborate with designers, researchers, and developers to deliver cohesive front-end solutions.
Advocate for user-centred design principles and influence design decisions across teams.
Conduct usability and accessibility evaluations to ensure compliance with requirements.
Apply and maintain design systems and style guides across digital products.
Translate prototypes and wireframes into scalable, high-quality front-end code.
Contribute to continuous improvement through rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration

What you'll bring:

Demonstrated experience designing and developing user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Angular).
Strong ability to work within established design systems and style guides.
Experience translating usability testing outcomes into improved user interfaces.
Solid understanding and application of WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Axure.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and articulate design decisions.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and agile environments.
Tertiary qualifications in design, ICT, or a related discipline (desirable)
