CTO

About the roleRugvista is looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and evolve our technology organisation and define how technology enables growth, efficiency and a best-in-class customer experience.

You will be a key member of the Management Team, reporting to the CEO, and working closely with Product, Commercial, Operations, Finance and Customer Experience to drive business impact. This is a strategic leadership role with a clear mandate to set direction, own key technology decisions, and raise engineering excellence across the organisation. You will ensure our platform remains secure, scalable and reliable as the business evolves and grows.

Our technology organisation is ~14 people, including 3 dedicated Product Owners. This position is based in Malmö (on-site).

Why this role matters nowRugvista’s core platform is largely in-house built and tailored to our business, providing control, flexibility and a strong fit. It also comes with trade-offs around complexity, maintenance and long-term scalability.

We are now evaluating moving selected components to external vendors and standard solutions. A central part of your mission is to lead this journey: defining what should remain a competitive differentiator in-house, what we should standardise, and how to execute these changes safely and efficiently without disrupting day-to-day operations.

This requires strong judgment, curiosity, and a willingness to evolve both technology and ways of working in a fast-changing environment.

What You’ll Do

• Set the technology vision and roadmap aligned with Rugvista’s growth ambitions
• Own architecture and platform decisions, balancing speed, scalability, security and cost
• Lead build vs buy decisions, vendor evaluations, and phased migrations or outsourcing of selected components
• Strengthen engineering excellence across delivery practices, quality, DevOps, observability and a culture of ownership
• Partner closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to prioritise and execute the right initiatives
• Drive responsible AI adoption where it creates measurable value, for example within personalisation, search, operations and customer service
• Ensure security and resilience, including cybersecurity standards, GDPR compliance, incident readiness and business continuity
  
  

What You Bring

• Senior tech leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Development or similar) in a fast-paced digital environment
• Strong technical and architectural understanding across modern software development, integrations and cloud infrastructure
• Proven ability to lead teams through change, raising standards while maintaining momentum
• Strong prioritisation and business mindset, with the ability to translate strategy into execution and measurable outcomes
• Clear and confident communicator, able to align technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus)
  
  

Experience from e-commerce or high-transaction environments, transitioning from in-house systems to vendor platforms, and implementing AI-enabled capabilities is considered a plus
