Job Title: General Manager- Engineering (Steel & RCC Structure)
Objective:
Incumbent in this role leads design in collaboration, undertaking rigorous proof‑checking of consultant design submissions to ensure technical accuracy and compliance. Serves as the primary technical interface with site teams and client / GC to resolve all design‑related aspects. Ensures strict adherence to quality assurance, constructability, and safety standards, while actively embedding sustainable design principles across project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Design Lead
- Provide overall support for structural design management, ensuring seamless coordination with external consultants for timely and high‑quality design deliverables aligned with construction schedules.
- Prepare and monitor the Design Submission Programme in alignment with the Project Works Programme, proactively identifying and mitigating schedule or technical risks.
- Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks for structural design across projects.
Technical Review & Optimization
- Review structural design submissions from consultants for technical correctness, statutory compliance, value engineering, constructability, and adherence to project specifications.
- Lead optimization initiatives aimed at cost efficiency, material optimization, and construction feasibility without compromising safety or performance.
- Provide expert oversight on steel structures, permanent structural works, building monitoring systems, and protection schemes.
Temporary Works & Geotechnical Oversight
- Oversee the design and review of temporary works, including staging, formwork, shoring, and construction supports.
- Review geotechnical investigations, foundation systems, and soil‑structure interaction recommendations to ensure design robustness and execution safety.
Site Support & Engineering Solutions
- Lead the development and approval of design modifications and technical clarifications.
- Provide timely engineering support to construction teams and subcontractors to resolve site challenges.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Lead design coordination with Clients, GC, and internal stakeholders, securing approvals within defined timelines.
- Review of Interface works progress and making provisions in the structural drawings as per the interface requirements.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare and present monthly Design Progress and Performance Reports, highlighting risks, mitigation actions, and optimization opportunities.
- Participate in progress review meetings with construction teams and clients,
Skills, Experience & Education
- Masters in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- 18+ Years, Experience in Steel, RCC structure of complex Buildings.
- Ability to lead the team and collaborate with Sites, clients & stakeholders
