About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated PHP Symfony Backend Team Lead & Tech Lead Webshop (m/w/d) to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the technical development and strategic direction of our online shop platform, which is utilized by millions of customers. You will oversee the backend development team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to combine hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team of developers and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the platform’s architecture and performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PHP and Symfony, a passion for e-commerce, and the ability to drive technical excellence and team development.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have several years of professional experience in object-oriented PHP development, with a deep understanding of the Symfony framework. Proven leadership skills, including experience in managing and mentoring development teams, are essential. Candidates should have a solid grasp of modern frontend architectures and the ability to align backend and frontend development efforts. A high standard for code quality, performance, and system stability is expected. Proficiency with relevant tools and technologies such as MySQL, Doctrine, Docker, Git, Jenkins, and Atlassian Suite is required. Additionally, strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, along with a keen interest in e-commerce platforms, scalability, and innovative software architectures, are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Technical & Development (Hands-on):

• Actively participate in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the hygi.de online shop platform.
• Implement complex features, technical improvements, and epics to enhance platform capabilities.
• Drive the evolution of the shop’s architecture, including refactoring efforts and adopting headless approaches where applicable.
• Ensure code quality, system performance, stability, and maintainability through best practices and rigorous testing.
• Conduct and facilitate code reviews to uphold coding standards and share knowledge within the team.
• Manage deployments and releases responsibly, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth rollouts.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
  
  

Teamlead & Tech Lead

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership to the entire web shop development team.
• Guide and mentor developers, fostering their professional growth and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and collaborate with external developers, including freelancers, to ensure alignment and quality.
• Take overall responsibility for the backend and frontend development efforts related to the shop.
• Engage in close technical collaboration with frontend developers to align architecture, interfaces, and performance standards.
• Make strategic decisions regarding system architecture, tools, and development processes.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, feedback sessions, and development reviews with team members.
• Work closely with Product Owners, the Head of IT, and other stakeholders to prioritize tasks and align on project goals.
• Continuously improve development and quality assurance processes within an agile environment.
