Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot)

AI Product | Sydney CBD | 5 Days Onsite

This is a product-led startup environment where backend engineers own what they ship. You’ll be building and improving the services that power AI-driven workflows, automation systems, and real-world integrations.

We’re looking for engineers with 2–6 years of commercial experience who are already operating above their level.

We also have a seperate Team Lead role available for the same business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and building Java / Spring Boot backend services
• Developing REST APIs and system integrations
• Working closely with product and frontend engineers
• Contributing to architecture decisions in a growing codebase
• Shipping production-grade, reliable software

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Java (production-level)
• Solid Spring Boot experience
• Comfortable designing APIs and backend logic
• PostgreSQL or relational database experience
• Exposure to AWS or cloud environments

Bonus Points If You:

• Have built side projects (we genuinely care about this)
• Have experimented with AI tools or automation workflows
• Have start-up experience
• Think about system design, not just tickets
