Systems Engineering & V&V Lead

Thomas Thor
Finland · Full-time · Mid-Senior

Join a Finnish nuclear technology company developing a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) — safe, scalable, and carbon-free heat for district heating and industrial applications.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineering & V&V Lead to join our Architecture and Integration group during the conceptual and design phases of the plant.

This is a hands-on, system-oriented, safety-driven position with strong technical leadership and broad cross-functional interfaces across engineering disciplines.

You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and actively applying the V&V framework across the entire nuclear plant architecture, with focus on:

  • Design verification & system-level validation
  • Safety and regulatory alignment
  • Design review leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • V&V Framework Define and operationally apply the overall V&V strategy. Establish system-level V&V plans, acceptance criteria, and verification methods (analysis, inspection, testing, simulation, demonstration). Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, design solutions, and validation evidence — embedded into everyday engineering practice.
  • Design Reviews & Systems Integration Lead design reviews at system and plant level: architecture, interfaces, system descriptions, MBSE models, schematics, and specifications. Facilitate and document multidisciplinary review sessions.
  • Verification Execution & Evidence Management Plan and perform verification activities across the full lifecycle (concept through commissioning). Maintain documented V&V evidence for internal decisions and regulatory interactions.
  • Non-Conformities & Risk Track and resolve non-conformities, drive root cause analysis, and support early identification of technical and regulatory risks.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's in systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, nuclear engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years in V&V within safety-critical or regulated industries
  • Mandatory: proven nuclear industry experience (plant design, system architecture, safety-classified systems)
  • Strong background in systems engineering, V-model, requirements management, and design verification — across multiple systems, not only I&C
  • Fluent English

Nice to have: nuclear licensing experience, safety analysis, quality management, MBSE in regulated environments.
