The Role
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the production infrastructure that powers AI-driven healthcare information systems.
This is a highly engineering-focused role where success is measured not just by model performance, but by reliability, scalability, security, and real-world clinical usability.
You will act as a bridge between data science and software engineering, owning MLOps pipelines, deployment workflows, and production ML systems in a regulated healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
MLOps & Deployment
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for machine learning workflows (model training, testing, deployment, and versioning)
- Deploy ML models as scalable APIs and microservices with strong focus on latency and reliability
- Implement monitoring for model drift, performance degradation, and system health
Data Engineering & Integration
- Develop ETL pipelines for healthcare data standards including FHIR and HL7
- Ensure consistency between training datasets and production data via feature stores or data layers
- Collaborate with backend and platform teams to integrate ML outputs into clinical systems
Engineering & Production Excellence
- Write clean, maintainable Python code and participate in rigorous code reviews
- Containerise and orchestrate workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
- Ensure compliance with healthcare security and regulatory standards (e.g. HIPAA, HITRUST)
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar
- Software or data engineering experience
- Experience in production machine learning or MLOps environments
Technical Skills
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch or Scikit-learn)
- Experience with data tools such as Pandas, Spark, dbt
- Exposure to LLM deployment or frameworks such as LangChain
- Experience in regulated industries (Healthcare, Finance, etc.)
- Understanding of microservices and API design
This role is based in Ireland, remote working is available but applicants must be a resident of the country.
