To thrive in this position, you need a meticulous eye for detail, extensive experience as a proficient software engineer/ developer within the data processing domain, and deep expertise in modern software development methodologies, complex database systems, and application programming interfaces (APIs). The position requires practical experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), particularly in implementing efficient Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) routines using enterprise tools.

About The Project

This is a critical, large-scale digital transformation initiative for one of Australia’s leading companies. The client is modernising its entire operational ecosystem, transitioning from legacy software used for claims management, communications, and various other business functions to a comprehensive, cutting-edge platform. The goal of the project is to redesign the entire technology landscape by researching existing system program needs, identifying technology limitations within legacy platforms, and providing expert guidance on modern software design strategies.

This Project Is a Multi-stream Engagement Managed Advance Delivery Consulting Pty Ltd, Encompassing Various Specialised Workstreams Designed To Ensure a Seamless Transition And Robust Implementation

• Software Implementation: Tailoring and deploying the new digital platform to align with the client’s specific business requirements, managing testing and automation of software and application deployments, and developing continuous improvement and continuous delivery strategies across system design.
• Data Migration and Data Development Services: Extracting, transforming, validating, and loading vast amounts of historical data from legacy systems to the new platform, strictly adhering to insurance compliance regulations. This stream encompasses comprehensive data profiling, meticulous data migration mapping and documentation, and the application of sophisticated transformation logic during the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) lifecycle. Deliverables also include rigorous validation of migrated data within the new system’s user interface to ensure accuracy, as well as proactive source data cleansing to guarantee data quality.
• Business and Technical Analysis: Defining requirements, analysing existing processes, and designing future-state technical solutions, which includes writing and maintaining program code and technical documentation to meet system requirements and designs.\
• Digital Communications Software configuration: Implementing and configuring high-volume digital correspondence platforms. This involves significant API and XML related configuration work to automate the broadcasting of communications and trigger personalised, rule-based emails when specific life events or system conditions are met within the new platform
  
  

Job Description

• Play a key role in translating business requirements into scalable technical data solutions, focusing on reliability and performance within the data migration and development workstream and the transformation project scope.
• For the purpose of moving the historical data from the legacy system into the new system, design, build, maintain, and modify robust ETL processes and data migration scripts
• Perform data profiling and data quality analysis on the source data to ensure data integrity and cleanliness (eliminating inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent data).
• Analysing and identifying key driving tables and columns which will be important for the migration.
• Interpret functional specifications and requirements to translate high-level business needs into technical data models and resilient software applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and business stakeholders—to engineer robust data solutions that meet evolving business needs and specific regulatory reporting requirements.
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including detailed data mapping rules, software specifications, and system design documents for the data migration activities.
  
  

Skills

Skills and Experience

• 1+ years of experience in Software Development & Data Engineering – Junior role
• 3+ years of experience in Software Development & Data Engineering – Mid role
• Solid engineering capability across data integration tools like SSIS, SSMS, coupled with expert proficiency in data profiling, advanced SQL programming, data deduplication, and automated cleansing processes.
• Strong Software Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to apply critical analysis, algorithmic thinking, and debugging skills to evaluate information, resolve conflicts, anticipate systemic issues, and make priority decisions.
• You will have ideally worked within a client-facing capacity, leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage and influence key technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in Health Cover and insurance domain is desirable, not mandatory.
  
  

Qualification

• Relevant degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Computer Science is mandatory.
• Certification in Relevant Technologies is a plus.

• Junior Role: $50,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
• Mid Role: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
