Director – Business Development
Industrial Autonomy & Engineering Unit (IAEU)
Location: Finland, Helsinki Office
Role Purpose:
The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving strategic growth, revenue expansion, and market positioning of the Industrial Autonomy & Engineering Unit in Finland. The role focuses on industrial clients across manufacturing, energy, utilities, logistics, and infrastructure, with an emphasis on autonomous systems, PLM, digital engineering, Industry 4.0, and AI-driven industrial solutions.
The position requires a strong combination of market leadership, client relationship management, deal shaping, and ecosystem partnerships, working closely with delivery, solution architecture, and global leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Market & Growth Leadership;
- Own and drive the business growth strategy for Industrial Autonomy & Engineering services in Finland.
- Develop and execute market entry and expansion plans aligned with regional and global objectives.
- Identify new growth areas, emerging customer needs, and technology-led opportunities in industrial autonomy and engineering services.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management;
- Build and manage C-level and senior stakeholder relationships with key industrial customers.
- Lead new logo acquisition, strategic pursuits, and large-deal origination in Finland.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers on digital transformation, autonomy, and advanced engineering initiatives.
Sales & Deal Ownership;
- Own the end-to-end sales lifecycle: opportunity identification, solution shaping, commercial structuring, negotiation, and closure.
- Collaborate with solution, delivery, and pricing teams to create differentiated, value-led proposals.
- Drive achievement of revenue, pipeline, and margin targets for the region.
Solution & Portfolio Alignment;
- Position and sell solutions across:
o Industrial autonomy & robotics
o Digital engineering & product engineering
o AI/ML-driven industrial solutions
o Smart manufacturing & Industry 4.0
o OT-IT convergence and digital twins
o Digital thread coupled with PLM / ALM
- Provide market feedback to influence portfolio evolution and innovation priorities.
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development;
- Build and leverage technology and ecosystem partnerships (OEMs, hyperscalers, automation vendors, startups, academia).
- Represent the organization in industry forums, client events, and thought-leadership platforms within Finland and the Nordics.
Internal Collaboration & Governance;
- Work closely with delivery leaders, global account teams, marketing, and solution architects to ensure scalable growth.
- Ensure adherence to commercial, legal, and compliance frameworks in all pursuits.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
- Revenue growth and order booking for Finland
- Qualified pipeline creation and conversion
- New logo wins and strategic account expansion
- Deal size, quality, and profitability
- Client satisfaction and long-term relationship strength
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Professional Experience;
- 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account leadership within:
o Engineering services
o Industrial digitalization
o Automation, autonomy, or manufacturing technology
- Proven track record of closing large, complex, multi-year B2B deals with industrial enterprises.
- Strong understanding of the Finnish industrial landscape and decision-making ecosystem.
Domain Expertise;
- Solid knowledge of:
o Industrial autonomy and automation
o Engineering services and digital transformation
o Industry 4.0, AI, and data-driven industrial solutions
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value propositions.
Leadership & Behavioral Skills:
- Executive-level communication and negotiation skills
- Strategic thinker with strong execution capability
- High degree of autonomy, ownership, and accountability
- Ability to influence across global, matrixed organizations
Education;
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Business
- MBA or advanced management qualification preferred
