About the organization
Our client is a high-tech engineering and technology organization with international operations, operating in a highly regulated and safety-critical domain. Their work supports essential industrial and energy-related processes, where reliability, continuity, and compliance are key. Due to the strategic nature of their operations, IT security is a growing priority—not only to protect systems and data, but also to ensure resilient operations and trusted collaboration across partners and suppliers.
What you’ll be doing
- Implement and maintain IT security tooling and control measures across a hybrid (on‑premise and cloud) environment, based on security requirements and risk assessments
- Set up, rebuild and optimize logging, monitoring and reporting to ensure effective detection and response (SIEM/monitoring stack)
- Onboard systems to an external SOC (MSSP) and ensure high-quality logging, alerting and incident visibility
- Act as first point of contact for security incidents and coordinate follow-up with internal stakeholders and the external SOC provider
- Work closely with the IT Security Manager and Infrastructure teams to translate security requirements into system configurations and daily operational practices
- Manage and execute security projects, including Proof of Concepts (e.g., email security and Microsoft 365 improvements) and optimization of existing tooling
- Create and maintain documentation, work instructions and procedures to support consistent and compliant operations
- Support internal and external audits and help ensure alignment with security standards (e.g., ISO 27001)
- Contribute to improving monitoring and response in a complex, multi-vendor environment
Your profile
- Bachelor’s (HBO) or Master’s degree in IT (preferably with a focus on IT Security) or equivalent experience
- Relevant hands-on experience in IT security engineering, ideally bridging infrastructure and security
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, networks, operating systems) combined with cloud environments (e.g., M365)
- Experience with security tooling such as EDR, SIEM/logging, vulnerability management, and email/web security
- Familiar with SOC/MSSP collaboration models and security monitoring setups
- Knowledge of security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK) is a plus
- Infrastructure background (system/network administration) is highly relevant
- Team-oriented, structured, and comfortable working with multiple stakeholders (IT, security, external partners)
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe
- Fluent in English; Dutch and/or German is a plus
What’s offered
- A challenging role in a skilled team within an innovative, high-tech environment
- Freedom for initiative and improvement
- Competitive compensation and strong secondary benefits (bonus potential, pension, flexible hours, travel allowance, generous leave)
