Observability Engineer (m/f/d) | Financial Services | Remote | 6-Month Contract
Our client is a global financial markets organisation seeking an Observability Engineer to design and scale advanced telemetry and monitoring capabilities across complex, distributed systems, ensuring high system reliability, performance, and real-time operational insight.
Project Details:
Duration: 6 months (potential for extension)
Workload: 5 days per week (full-time)
Location: Fully Remote
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate scalable telemetry pipelines for metrics, logs, and traces across distributed systems.
- Define and implement observability standards, including dashboards, alerting strategies, and SLI/SLO frameworks.
- Integrate and optimise observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, and Elastic stack.
- Embed observability into the SDLC, including CI/CD pipelines, automated validations, and deployment health checks.
- Collaborate with platform, SRE, and engineering teams to improve system visibility and reliability.
- Drive best practices in monitoring, incident response, and post-incident analysis.
- Continuously enhance observability capabilities to reduce time-to-detect and time-to-resolve issues.
- Support automation and infrastructure-as-code approaches for scalable observability deployment.
- Contribute to technical design discussions, architecture decisions, and platform improvements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Observability Engineer, SRE, or Platform Engineer in complex environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Elastic, or Kafka.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or Java).
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Strong understanding of SLIs, SLOs, and modern alerting strategies.
- Experience integrating observability within CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Experience in regulated or financial environments is highly desirable.
