Job Title: AWS Support Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (3x onsite a week)

Employment Type: Contract

Pay Rate: CAD$50 - $55/HR INC

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive L1/L2 AWS Support Engineer to support our Java-based application infrastructure. You will be responsible for monitoring system health, troubleshooting networking and application-level incidents, and maintaining security configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Incident Management: Monitor CloudWatch alerts, investigate API Gateway errors, ALB/NLB traffic issues, and MySQL database performance.
  • Networking & Connectivity: Troubleshoot VPN, VPC configurations, and firewall/Security Group rules to ensure connectivity.
  • App Support: Basic troubleshooting of Java applications on EC2 instances.
  • Maintenance: Assist with patching, log analysis, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Single Point of Contact – Act as single point of contact for clients, for any problem they face. Also be part of triaging session.

Required Skills

  • AWS: Good knowledge of VPC, EC2, ALB/NLB, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
  • Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, and firewall configuration.
  • Database: Basic troubleshooting of MySQL databases.
  • OS: Linux command-line proficiency (Linux/Unix).
  • Team Player – Strong ability to work with and mentor offshore team. Will require occasional working at late nights.
  • Communication – Strong communication skills, triage management skills required.
  • Experience: 4-6 years in application support or infrastructure troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate.
  • Experience with scripting (Bash/Python) for automation.
