DevOps Engineer

Job Summary:

• ADS runs the Zapp Store, an on-premises application platform serving VMRD. The platform hosts containerized web applications, APIs, databases, and middleware across multiple Linux servers. The stack includes Traefik (reverse proxy/TLS), Keycloak (SSO), OAuth2 Proxy, Podman/Docker/Apptainer container runtimes, and a custom manifest-driven CLI for service orchestration. Monitoring is in place via Prometheus and Grafana. Source control and CI workflows run through GitHub. We need a contractor to maintain and extend this platform — improving deployment patterns, building out CI/CD integration, and supporting the team's hybrid cloud strategy.

Experience:

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles
• Strong Linux systems experience (this is not a sysadmin role — no patching, no OS-level maintenance)
• Docker and container orchestration in production (Podman and Apptainer experience a plus)
• CI/CD pipeline development (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Reverse proxy and service routing (Traefik, nginx, or similar)
• Bash and Python scripting for automation
• Familiarity with identity/auth systems (Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC, or similar)
• Basic SQL competency

Nice to have:

• Kubernetes (on-prem or AKS)
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Azure cloud services CLI or internal tooling development (Python, C, Rust, or similar)
• Monitoring stack experience (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Life sciences or R&D environment experience
