Business Data Analyst

Requirements:

• University degree in Business, Engineering, or Information Science.
• Professional experience with data analysis within a financial services institution (investment bank, retail bank, insurance undertaking, etc.).
• Strong understanding of macroeconomic and financial data, including country-level indicators and sovereign risk concepts.
• Proven experience in data curation, cleaning, and management.
• Advanced working knowledge of SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Advanced skills in Excel for analysis, validation, and reconciliation tasks.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI for reporting and data visualisation.
• Analytical thinking and robust problem-solving skills.
• Strong data presentation and storytelling abilities.
• (Desirable) Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, STATA, and/or R.
• (Desirable) Familiarity with data quality frameworks and metadata management.
• (Desirable) Experience working with international financial institutions, central banks, or similar organisations.

Job description:

• Maintain and update the macroeconomic and sovereign risk database, ensuring indicators are accurate at both country and time-series levels.
• Curate, clean, and validate data sourced from international institutions, public datasets, and licensed providers.
• Implement and maintain SQL queries and views to ensure reliable and efficient access to data.
• Support improvements to data structures, metadata, and documentation to ensure data quality, consistency, and traceability.
• Use Python and SQL to automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation checks.
• Maintain and enhance existing scripts and analytical tools for recurring data updates.
• Maintain and update reports and dashboards used for external publications and internal dissemination.
• Create and maintain data visualisations using Power BI, Excel, and SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Ensure all visual outputs are consistent with underlying data and established methodological standards.
• Contribute to improving the consistency of macroeconomic and financial data used across different services.
• Support the definition and enforcement of common indicators, definitions, and reference datasets.
• Assist in responding to internal data requests and coordinate across services on economic data usage.
