DB maintenance and data management

Maintain and update the D, which stores macroeconomic and sovereign risk indicators at country and time‑series level.

Curate, clean and validate data sourced from international institutions, public datasets and licensed providers.

Implement and maintain SQL queries and views to ensure reliable and efficient access to data.

Support improvements to data structures, metadata, and documentation where needed.

Data processing and automation

Use Python and SQL to automate data ingestion, transformation, validation and consistency checks.

Maintain and enhance existing scripts and analytical tools used by the Client for recurring data updates.

Use Excel for ad‑hoc analysis, validation and reconciliation tasks.

c) Reporting and data visualisation

Maintain and update existing reports and dashboards used in Client’s publications and internal dissemination.

Create and maintain data visualisations using:

Power BI (primary tool).

Excel (charts, tables).

SAP Analytics Cloud (optional, depending on skills and project needs).

Ensure that visual outputs are consistent with underlying data and ECON methodological standards.

Data quality and consistency across the Bank

Contribute to improving the consistency of macroeconomic and financial data used across different EIB services.

Support the definition and enforcement of common indicators, definitions and reference datasets.

Assist ECON in responding to internal data requests and cross‑service coordination on economic data usage.

Mandatory requirements:

  • University studies in Business, Engineering or Information Science.
  • Experience with data analysis in a financial services institution (investment bank, retail bank, insurance undertaking, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic and financial data, including country‑level indicators and sovereign risk concepts.
  • Proven experience in data curation and management.
  • Advanced working knowledge of:


SQL (querying and managing relational databases),

Python (data processing, automation),

Excel (analysis and validation).

Power BI for reporting and data visualisation.

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Strong data presentation and story telling skills.


Desirable skills:

  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, STATA and/or R.
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks and metadata management.
  • Experience working with international financial institutions, central banks or similar organisations.
