About the role:

We are hiring a Founding Engineer to own and evolve the backend foundation of Ecopass. This is a backend-first role with real influence over architecture, data model quality, API standards, tenant isolation, reliability, and the way product truth moves across the platform.

This is not a junior or ticket-closing role; it is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to shape core systems early and work at the boundary of product, device workflows, and applied AI.

What you will own:

• Backend architecture across data modelling, API design, versioning, testing standards, multi-tenancy, RBAC, and operational reliability.
• API consistency across our internal platform and consumer-facing product experiences.
• Device-to-cloud foundations for representing physical products as live, queryable entities.
• Observability, deployment confidence, queue/background job reliability, and engineering discipline.

What success looks like in your first 6 months:

• Improve API consistency and backend standards across product surfaces.
• Strengthen tenant isolation, RBAC, and production-grade data modelling.
• Raise reliability across logging, monitoring, background jobs, and deployment workflows.
• Ship pragmatic improvements across Platform, CRM and selected AI-related workflows.

What we are looking for:

• Graduate of Computer Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from one of Turkey’s leading universities. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of meaningful engineering experience. In exceptional cases, we may also consider candidates with 2 years of full-time post-graduation experience plus 1 year of substantial long-term internship experience.
• Strong backend depth in Node.js and TypeScript; NestJS is highly valuable, but not mandatory.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals, including indexing, query optimisation, schema design, and migration-safe thinking.
• Genuine interest in AI as a product capability, not just as an API wrapper.
• High ownership and comfort operating in an early-stage environment where decisions matter.

• You communicate clearly and proactively-in writing and in person.
• You have strong ethical standards and good judgement.
• You are self-driven and do not need task-by-task management to move important work forward.

Relevant tech environment:

Today, the core backend is Laravel 12 / PHP 8.2 + PostgreSQL. The platform and DPP surfaces are React 19/Vite applications. Some fetaures run as a separate TypeScript/Hono service. Shared infrastructure is managed through Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, and Azure/AKS, and RF operations connect through dedicated bridge tooling.

Ecopass is building around a closed loop: B2B creates product truth, B2C activates and uses it, and lifecycle events feed back into operations. That gives this role both technical depth and real product consequence.
