Cloud Engineer

BLACKROC is partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a Cloud Engineer to support and enhance their Microsoft cloud ecosystem. This is a key role focused on delivering secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud services across Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.

Role Purpose

This role is responsible for the administration, optimisation, and ongoing management of cloud platforms, ensuring strong security, compliance, and operational performance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
• Manage identity and access controls (RBAC, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access)
• Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities
• Configure SaaS applications and integrations
• Maintain infrastructure including DNS, certificates, and servers
• Manage firewall rules, networking configurations, and secure access
• Drive cloud cost optimisation and licensing efficiency
• Support compliance with Essential 8 and ISO 27001 standards
• Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to deliver cloud solutions

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong experience with Azure and Microsoft 365 administration
• Deep knowledge of identity and access management (Entra ID)
• Experience in cloud security, compliance, and risk management
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
• Scripting experience (PowerShell preferred)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
• Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-500, etc.)
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Security certifications (e.g. Security+, SC-series)
• Experience in medium to large enterprise environments
