Backstage Lead Developer

For one of our clients—a key player in the European energy landscape—we are looking for a Backstage Lead Developer. In this role, you will contribute to the further development and optimization of a central developer platform, supporting a sustainable, reliable, and future-proof energy infrastructure.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze the existing Backstage architecture and identify optimization opportunities

• Design scalable, high-performance, and maintainable solutions within the platform environment

• Translate business and technical requirements into concrete architectural and development solutions

• Develop, test, and document custom Backstage plugins (frontend and backend)

• Implement integrations with internal systems, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines

• Extend and configure backend services and platform functionalities

• Ensure secure and compliant solutions in line with IT and security standards

• Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture, APIs, workflows, configurations)

• Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and experts to drive platform improvements

• Provide guidance on architecture decisions, integration patterns, and future platform evolution

PROFILE:

• At least 2 years of experience with Backstage (design, customization, and maintenance)

• Proven experience in developing Backstage plugins (frontend and backend)

• At least 4 years of experience in backend development with Node.js

• At least 3 years of experience in frontend development with React

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps)

• Solid knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

• Strong analytical skills and architectural mindset

• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document complex information

• Languages: English (professional), Dutch is a plus
