The Opportunity

Our client is hiring a Software Architect to play a key role in the design and evolution of their core technology platform. Based in Helsinki, this role sits at the intersection of hands‑on technical leadership and strategic architectural decision‑making, supporting the delivery of scalable, cloud‑native products.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define technical direction, ensure architectural consistency, and enable development teams to move faster without compromising quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall software architecture across backend services and platforms
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems using Node.js and TypeScript
• Lead architectural decisions in an AWS-based cloud environment
• Collaborate with development teams to translate business and product requirements into technical solutions
• Establish best practices for system design, coding standards, and deployment
• Support teams with technical guidance, reviews, and architectural governance
• Drive continuous improvement in performance, reliability, and developer experience

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience in a Software Architect or senior technical leadership role
• Strong background in Node.js and TypeScript in production environments
• Hands-on experience designing and operating systems on AWS
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, and API design
• Experience balancing long-term architectural vision with short-term delivery needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with event-driven or distributed systems
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
• Background working in product-led or scaled engineering organisations
