Project Manager – Large-Scale Automation Projects | Benelux
Are you a decisive leader who thrives at the centre of complex, high-stakes technical environments? If you are ready to spearhead greenfield automation projects for a global leader in smart logistics, this is your opportunity.
As a Project Manager, you will be the driving force behind the successful deployment of massive, "from-the-ground-up" logistics systems. Working with a dedicated team of professionals, you will bridge the gap between world-class engineering and live site execution, ensuring that ambitious automation designs become operational realities.
Responsibilities:
- Primary On-Site Authority: Act as the central point of contact for customers, international engineering teams, and subcontractors, ensuring seamless communication across all project phases.
- Project Control & Risk Management: Monitor project scope for greenfield builds; identify, assess, and mitigate risks or deviations (claim and escalation management) before they impact the timeline.
- Strategic Troubleshooting: Serve as the lead problem-solver on-site, making critical decisions and coordinating technical improvements in alignment with stakeholders.
- Reporting & Documentation: Manage and adjust project documentation, record progress in CRM/ERP systems, and deliver high-level progress reports to senior leadership.
- Safety & Compliance Leadership: Maintain total responsibility for on-site safety and ensure all installations meet rigorous technical specifications and local guidelines.
- Deployment Commitment: Full structural presence on-site (Monday–Friday) throughout the project lifecycle, including regular overnight stays as required by the project location within the Benelux region.
Work Experience
- Proven Track Record: 4 to 8 years of experience in a site management or lead project execution role, specifically within logistics automation, intralogistics, or high-tech industrial environments.
- Greenfield Expertise: Direct experience managing large-scale projects from initial site setup through to final commissioning and handover.
- Integrator & End-User Collaboration: Background in working with major system integrators or managing massive automation installs for global end-users.
- International Exposure: Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams in an international project landscape. Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Technical Field (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering).
- Linguistic Proficiency: Strong command of Dutch and English; proficiency in German is considered a significant advantage.
- Soft Skills: A customer-centric and result-oriented mindset. You must be highly resilient, structured, and capable of maintaining a "cool head" during the high pressure phases of a major site launch.
- Technical Literacy: Familiarity with complex automated systems (e.g., shuttle systems, AMRs, or sophisticated conveyor networks) and the ability to interpret technical schematics and project schedules.
