Senior Network Engineer - Cloud / Security / Data Centers

Are you a seasoned Network Security Engineer ready to take ownership of complex, high-impact security initiatives? This opportunity sits within a large, enterprise-level organisation operating in a highly regulated environment, where security, scalability, and innovation go hand in hand. You will be joining a forward-thinking environment focused on building secure foundations for growth, including future mergers and acquisitions, while working with modern technologies across on-premise and hybrid cloud landscapes.

In this role, you will act as a trusted security expert, shaping and strengthening network security architecture across multiple domains. From enabling secure connectivity for a 3rd datacenter to supporting campus networks with IoT devices and onboarding new subsidiaries, your expertise will directly influence the organisation’s security posture and long-term strategy.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement secure network architectures across datacenter, campus, and hybrid cloud environments

Enable secure onboarding of new subsidiaries and establish security baselines for future integrations

Provide consultancy and technical guidance to Platform & Technologies and Facility Management teams

Review existing infrastructures and recommend improvements aligned with security best practices

Ensure secure connectivity for IoT-enabled campus environments

Support security migration of IT assets to new datacenter environments

Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to define and implement secure solutions

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong experience in network security (Firewalls, Proxies)

Solid understanding of enterprise network infrastructures in complex environments

Expertise in hybrid cloud security (Azure, VMware NSX-T)

Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, MITRE)

Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture principles

Experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI

Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience

Nice to have:

Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, AZ-305, or SC-100

Experience in regulated or enterprise environments

Background in audit-related security challenges

Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)

Contract: Freelance or secondment (both options open)
