The incumbent provides political analysis and advice on issues related to the NATO-Ukraine relations to enable informed decision making and support the management of current affairs . The incumbent deputises for the Head of Political Affairs in her/his absence.
Stakeholder Management. Work across NATO structures and enhance relationships with Allies, partner countries, international organisations, and various other contacts to effectively manage current affairs related to the NATO-Ukraine relationship and build a network.
People Management. Support the delivery of the NRU’s political analysis by directing and coaching locally-engaged political analysts. Deputise for the Head of Political Affairs in her/his absence
Interactions: The incumbent collaborates closely with the Political Affairs and Security Policy (PASP) Division, in particular with the Head, Policy East Section, and with the relevant stakeholders in Ukraine.

Contract clause applicable:
This post is required for a limited period to support the NRU. As employment in this post is of limited duration, the successful applicant will be offered a definite duration contract of one-year duration, which may be renewed for two periods of up to one year if required to support this project.
If the successful applicant is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member States, a one-year definite duration contract will be offered, which may be renewed for two periods of up to one year if required to support this project, and subject also to the agreement of the national authority concerned.
Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

- SUMMARY
The incumbent provides political analysis and advice on issues related to the NATO-Ukraine relations to enable informed decision making and support the management of current affairs . The incumbent deputises for the Head of Political Affairs in her/his absence.
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- possess a university degree in the field of political science, international relations, security studies, or another relevant discipline;
- possess at least four years of experience in foreign/security/defence affairs;
- have a well-developed understanding of the overall political context of NATO’s relations with Ukraine and Ukraine-related political and security-policy issues
- have excellent oral and written communication skills;
- possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; I (“Beginner”) in the other.
- working knowledge of Ukrainian, or other similar Slavic languages.
