About The Role

We are seeking an experienced PHP Symfony Backend Team Lead & Tech Lead for Webshop to join our innovative team at hygi.de. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring our backend development team, overseeing the technical architecture of our webshop platform, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions. You will work hands-on in the development process, implementing complex features and improvements while also guiding your team through technical challenges. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of a high-traffic e-commerce platform used by millions, while also managing team dynamics and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining the robustness, performance, and security of our webshop, ensuring it remains a market leader in online health and hygiene retail.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess several years of professional experience in object-oriented PHP development, with a strong focus on the Symfony framework. Proven leadership skills, whether through team management or technical guidance, are essential. You should have a solid understanding of modern frontend architectures to facilitate effective cross-team collaboration. A deep commitment to code quality, performance optimization, and system stability is required. Familiarity with DevOps practices, including deployment pipelines and infrastructure automation, is advantageous. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, decision-making ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A keen interest in e-commerce, scalable software architectures, and innovative technological solutions will set you apart. Additionally, a degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications or continuous learning in backend development and leadership.

Responsibilities

As PHP Symfony Backend Team Lead & Tech Lead, your responsibilities will include:

• Actively participating in the development and maintenance of the hygi.de online shop, contributing to the implementation of complex features and technical enhancements.
• Driving the evolution of the shop’s architecture, including refactoring efforts and exploring headless commerce approaches to improve flexibility and performance.
• Ensuring high code quality, system performance, stability, and ease of maintenance through rigorous code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Managing deployment processes and release cycles responsibly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth updates.
• Leading and mentoring the backend development team, providing technical guidance, conducting regular feedback sessions, and supporting professional growth.
• Collaborating closely with frontend developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Making architectural and technological decisions regarding tools, standards, and best practices to foster a high-performance development environment.
• Continuously improving development workflows, integrating agile methodologies, and enhancing quality assurance processes.
