Technical Project Manager

IC Resources
United Kingdom · Full-time · Mid-Senior

This is a rare opportunity to shape next-generation quantum technology from the ground up. As Technical Project Manager, you’ll lead multidisciplinary engineering projects that combine photonics, electronics, and software — helping turn groundbreaking research into commercial products. You’ll join a fast-growing start-up where every idea counts, every project has visibility, and your work contributes directly to the future of secure computing.

Our client is an Oxford-based quantum technology company developing advanced hardware for cybersecurity and probabilistic computing. Their innovations harness the fundamental unpredictability of light to create the next wave of quantum entropy and encryption technologies, driving impact across data protection, communications, and computing.

The Technical Project Manager will oversee complex hardware and research projects from early development to delivery. You’ll coordinate engineering teams, manage suppliers, and ensure milestones, budgets, and technical objectives are met. The role combines technical depth, operational discipline, and stakeholder communication in an environment built around collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities Include

  • Managing full project lifecycles for hardware, firmware, and software development
  • Leading grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance, reporting, and delivery to schedule
  • Coordinating engineers, researchers, and partners across multiple disciplines
  • Managing suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure quality and reliability
  • Tracking progress, budgets, and risks while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders
  • Supporting roadmap planning and contributing to the continuous improvement of PM processes

What You’ll Bring

  • Background in technical or engineering project management within hardware or R&D environments
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with experience handling complex, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience managing external partners or suppliers
  • Familiarity with grant-funded or publicly financed projects is highly desirable
  • Clear communicator, capable of bridging technical and non-technical discussions
  • Self-motivated, structured, and comfortable working in a dynamic start-up setting

You’ll be part of a pioneering company translating world-class research into real-world technology. Expect a fast-paced, collaborative culture, strong autonomy, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge quantum projects with visible impact.
