THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with strong insurance domain knowledge, Snowflake, SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
This role sits at the heart of insurance data platforms, designing and delivering enterprise‑scale data solutions that support underwriting, claims, policy, billing and customer analytics. You will work closely with business stakeholders, Insurance platform teams, engineering and analytics teams to define data architecture standards, integration patterns and governed data products.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Strategy
- Own the end‑to‑end data architecture for Insurance platform‑centric ecosystems.
- Define target‑state architectures across ingestion, transformation, semantic and consumption layers.
- Create and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models across core insurance domains.
- Lead data platform modernisation and migration to Snowflake and cloud‑native architectures.
- Establish standards for data quality, lineage, metadata and governance.
Clarity & Insights
- Architect reporting and analytics data flows from platform systems.
- Design ingestion and analytics patterns using Insights datasets.
- Partner with platform functional and technical teams to ensure consistent domain definitions.
Snowflake Architecture
- Design scalable Snowflake solutions (schemas, warehouses, performance and cost optimisation).
- Implement ELT patterns using SQL‑based transformations.
- Define Snowflake security using RBAC, masking and secure views.
Integration & Pipelines
- Design and oversee Azure Data Factory pipelines for ingestion and orchestration.
- Build and optimise SSIS packages for hybrid and legacy integrations.
- Define CDC, reconciliation, auditing and monitoring patterns.
Governance, Quality & Leadership
- Define and implement data quality frameworks and observability.
- Promote CI/CD and DevOps best practices for data platforms.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor for data engineers and analysts.
- Translate business requirements into clear architecture artefacts and designs.
Required Skills & Experience
Must‑Have
- Extensive experience in data engineering and data architecture roles.
- Strong insurance industry experience is essential.
- Strong Snowflake experience (modelling, performance, security, cost control).
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Strong experience with SSIS.
- Experience migrating data from legacy systems to Insurance platforms.
- Strong SQL skills and data modelling experience (Kimball and/or Data Vault).
- Deep understanding of insurance data across policy, claims, billing, commissions
- (reinsurance experience is a significant plus).
Nice‑to‑Have
- Azure ecosystem experience (ADLS Gen2, Synapse, Databricks, Key Vault).
- Real‑time or near‑real‑time data patterns (Event Hub, Kafka).
- Hands‑on expertise with Insurance Platform solutions
