Freelance Power BI Specialist / BI Developer

We are looking for a Dutch speaking Freelance Power BI Specialist to strengthen a Business Intelligence team in Gent. You will work hands‑on on building, automating and optimizing Power BI solutions that turn raw data into actionable insights for management and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Power BI reports & dashboards
• Develop Power Query and SQL‑based transformations
• Create and optimize DAX measures (performance & best practices)
• Design and optimize data models (star / snowflake schema)
• Automate data flows and reporting (Dataflows, Power Automate, etc.)
• Resolve operational BI issues and support users

Must‑have skills

• Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
• Advanced DAX knowledge (row vs filter context, optimization)
• Solid experience with Power Query and ETL concepts
• Experience with dimensional data modeling
• Affinity with automation and data engineering concepts
• Good knowledge of Excel
• Basic SQL knowledge

Nice to have

• Experience with Power Automate / Power Platform
• Knowledge of Azure data tools, Microsoft Fabric or data lakes
• Understanding of Power BI governance, security (RLS) and deployments
• PL‑300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification

• Several years of hands‑on Power BI experience
• Autonomous, proactive and solution‑oriented
• Strong technical mindset, comfortable working independently
