Role Summary

Linnk Group are looking for a Senior Network Technician specialising in the physical layer

(OSI Layer 1) of network environments for a project with a large global provider.


This role focuses on assessing, validating, and documenting structured cabling and physical network infrastructure that supports both wired (LAN) and wireless (WLAN) networks.


You will ensure that the physical network setup is reliable, scalable, and compliant with industry standards, working closely with design and delivery teams on-site.


  • Duration: 6–12 months-extendable
  • Location: Paris, France (Hybrid working)


Key Responsibilities

Physical Network & Cabling Assessments

  • Assess copper and fiber cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, MMF, SMF)
  • Validate cable routing, containment, and labeling against standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC)
  • Review and document connections between:
  • Switches and patch panels
  • Patch panels and wireless access points (APs)
  • IoT/OT devices, sensors, and servers


Communication Rooms (MDF/IDF)

  • Survey and document network closets, including:
  • Rack layouts and available space
  • Patch panels, fiber connections, and terminations
  • Power, cooling, grounding, and access
  • Verify correct cable terminations and readiness for upgrades or new deployments


Wireless Infrastructure Support

  • Validate physical installation of wireless access points (mounting, height, ceiling type)
  • Check cabling routes and connectivity to switches
  • Support wireless surveys by ensuring infrastructure aligns with design plans


Wired Connectivity Validation

  • Confirm connectivity for:
  • User network ports
  • IoT/OT devices (e.g. sensors, cameras, building systems)
  • Servers and network equipment
  • Ensure correct patching between switches and devices


Documentation & Reporting

  • Produce clear deliverables, including:
  • Cabling records and labeling schedules
  • Closet/rack layout diagrams
  • Photo documentation of infrastructure
  • Survey reports highlighting risks and recommended improvements
  • Provide input to design and implementation teams


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in physical network infrastructure (OSI Layer 1)
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Copper and fiber cabling
  • Patch panels, racks, and cabinets


Understanding of connectivity for:

  • Wireless access points
  • Network switches
  • Servers and IoT/OT devices


Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with enterprise WLAN deployments
  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC standards
  • Background in network assessments, migrations, or new installations
