Handelsbanken Luxembourg Branch started its activities in 1978 and is part of Handelsbanken Global Banking (HOG). We support the Bank’s customers in the core markets with their international business. The Branch main business is Private banking and Mortgage lending in Spain, Portugal and France

We are looking for a co-worker to our Backoffice-team who is passionate about providing first class service to our customers as well as building lasting relationships with internal departments. This role will report in to the Head of Operations, Luxembourg

The main responsibilities will be the following:

  • Work with the daily payments
  • Work with the daily clearing and settlements
  • Recurring reconciliations
  • Provide support to the Private Banking and Mortgage departments
  • Control and follow up on pending items
  • Contact for internal and external departments / counterparties
  • Opportunity to be in charge of long term projects

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills in English, (French and/or Swedish is a bonus) and have the ability to interact successfully with a diverse range of colleagues, both in Luxembourg and through regular contact with the support teams based in Stockholm.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar Back Office
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team in a multi-cultural environment
  • A willingness to get involved in an array of different tasks
  • Good social skills and ability to interact with other departments to find the best solutions for the customer
  • Computer and software skills (Swift system, Excel,etc.)
  • Take responsibility for own development and on the job learning
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for banking / financial services products and services
  • An interest in and knowledge of existing and upcoming regulations
  • Observe proper standards of market conduct
  • Knowledge of securities, operational processes and operational risks linked to securities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Desire to support and contribute to the development of the team around them with a positive mindset

The position offers a great opportunity to develop in an international environment and to build-up a strong network of contacts. As we are a small branch, this position provides exposure to and the opportunity to learn a range of operations and general banking activities.
