The opportunity: Internship in IT & Cybersecurity – 3 months

What you will do:
This role is for final-year Bachelor’s or Master’s student currently enrolled at an accredited university. The internship must be a mandatory part of your studies and support your final-year project or dissertation.
Reporting to the Head of IT and Cybersecurity, you will coordinate the implementation of projects across business lines and functions at HSBC, from initiation to completion.
In this role, you will (but not limited to):
- Support IT and cyber activities such as reporting, tracking actions, and maintaining documentation.
- Assist with data collection and analysis for IT/cyber metrics (e.g., service performance, incident trends, request volumes).
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Excel and/or Power BI.
- Help document processes and identify opportunities for improvement/automation.
- Prepare clear updates and presentations for team meetings and stakeholders.
- Deliver an agreed end-to-end internship project with measurable outcomes by the end of the placement.
You should apply if you have:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Knowledge of change and incident management frameworks, methodologies and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
- Any exposure to SQL and/or Power Query (helpful but not required).
- Familiarity with data concepts (data cleaning, basic modelling) and presenting insights.
- Fluency in English.
