GIS Tech Lead

We are looking to hire a GIS Tech Lead to support the design, development, and implementation of enterprise geospatial solutions for one of the leading semi-government organizations in Dubai.

This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 12 months (renewable).

The GIS Tech Lead will act as a subject matter expert in geospatial technologies, responsible for delivering scalable GIS solutions, managing geospatial platforms, and working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to drive digital transformation initiatives. The role involves full lifecycle ownership from requirement analysis and solution design to deployment, optimization, and ongoing support.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy GIS applications and geospatial solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Administer and maintain geo-databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, performance tuning, and adherence to data standards.
• Work closely with business users, IT teams, and external vendors to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Customize GIS platforms and integrate with enterprise systems, APIs, and other business applications.
• Convert, analyze, and manage spatial data, ensuring proper formatting, validation, and usability.
• Deploy GIS applications to production environments and provide ongoing technical support and enhancements.
• Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery for GIS and non-GIS initiatives, ensuring alignment with SDLC best practices.
• Coordinate with vendors for software procurement, contract negotiations, and ongoing support services.
• Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and status reports for systems and projects.
• Identify opportunities to enhance GIS services, optimize performance, and improve user experience.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in GIS development and geospatial technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong experience in GIS web development using ArcGIS JavaScript API and REST frameworks
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Server, Portal, Pro, Dashboards, Field Maps).
• Expertise in geo database administration, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Strong programming experience in C# and Python
• Experience with web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, React
• Knowledge of backend technologies such as.NET Core, Node.js, ASP.NET, MVC,Web APIs.
• Experience working with databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, including spatial queries and triggers.
• Strong understanding of geo processing tools and Model Builder
• Familiarity with GIS mobile development (e.g., Flutter or React Native) is a plus.
