Contract C++ Programmer – Systems/Tools (Contract)

We’re looking for an experienced C++ systems / tools programmer to join the our client as a contractor, focusing on improving the core client architecture, developer workflows, and production pipelines for their major mobile hit game.

About the Role

You’ll work on technical areas that impact the entire team, helping make development faster, more stable, and more reliable.

Responsibilities

• Work on core client systems and low-level improvements in C++ (performance, memory, debugging, iteration speed)
• Design and improve internal tools, pipelines, and workflows (e.g. asset pipelines, build systems, debugging/profiling tools)
• Identify bottlenecks in developer workflows and iteration speed, and implement pragmatic solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and artists to improve how content is created and integrated into the game
• Work within a large, long-lived codebase, improving systems incrementally without disrupting production

Required Skills

• Strong experience with modern C++ in large, production codebases
• Proven experience working on systems, tools, or pipelines
• Experience improving build systems, asset pipelines, debugging or profiling tools, or developer workflows
• Strong debugging skills and ability to work effectively in complex, legacy systems
• Comfortable identifying problems independently and driving solutions end-to-end

Nice to have Skills

• Experience working on game engines or engine-level systems
• Experience with mobile constraints (performance, memory, iteration speed)
• Experience improving iteration time or developer productivity in live games
