Lead Data Scientist / ML Lead (Industrial AI)

Advian is looking for a Lead Data Scientist / ML Lead to take ownership of the algorithms behind our solutions. In this hands-on role, you develop machine learning solutions for both products and customer projects, solving real-world industrial problems while deciding how the right methods are used — and supporting others in applying them across projects.

THE ROLE

In this role, you own the algorithms behind Advian’s solutions, combining hands-on development with technical leadership. You build models used in real operations while shaping how machine learning is applied across both product development and customer projects.

Your work typically includes:

• Solve real-world industrial and manufacturing problems using machine learning
• Develop and deploy machine learning models for real-world use, from feature engineering to applying modern AI methods and ensuring production readiness
• Make technical and design decisions throughout the project lifecycle, balancing performance, reliability, and real-world constraints
• Support and guide other data scientists and ML engineers across projects
• Define and evolve best practices for algorithm development and MLOps, together with the team
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering stakeholders across projects
  
  
  

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has:

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning solutions
• Experience applying ML to real-world, domain-constrained problems (e.g. industrial, manufacturing, or similar)
• Ability to design simple, effective solutions, efficiently leveraging existing methods while driving practical innovation
• Strong understanding of modern machine learning methods, especially for time series, anomaly detection, and real-world industrial data
• Ability to make independent technical decisions under real-world constraints
• Comfortable taking ownership and guiding other experts
• Professional communication skills in English
  
  
  

It is considered a plus if you have:

• Practical experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
• Background in computer vision or signal processing
• Background in mathematics of physics
• Experience in mentoring or growing other data scientists or ML engineers
• Professional communication skills in Finnish
