Embedded Systems Engineer (Linux)

Location: Riga, Latvia

An opportunity to join an exciting new company where they build advanced unmanned aerial systems used in defense, security, and critical infrastructure. We’re looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer who understands not just code, but how that code interacts with real-world hardware.

Responsibilities:

You’ll work on the onboard systems powering our drones developing and debugging software that interfaces directly with sensors, radios, and mission-critical hardware.

This is a systems-level role where you’ll be expected to move fluidly between Linux software and the underlying electronics, solving problems that span across the full stack.

  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux software for onboard drone systems
  • Interface with hardware components (sensors, cameras, radios) via protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN
  • Debug complex issues across software and hardware boundaries
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and features
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and real-time behavior of systems
  • Contribute to system architecture and integration across the drone platform

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with embedded Linux development (not just desktop/server)
  • Solid understanding of low-level programming (C/C++ preferred)
  • Experience working with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
  • Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and understand PCB-level interactions
  • Hands-on experience debugging real devices (e.g. robotics, drones, IoT, automotive, or similar)
  • A systems mindset thinking beyond your code and understand how everything connects

Nice to Have

  • Experience with video pipelines, cameras, or RF/communications systems
  • Familiarity with real-time systems or kernel/driver development
  • Background in aerospace, robotics, or defense systems

Offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Work on cutting-edge drone technology used in real-world missions
  • Be part of a team solving complex, multidisciplinary engineering challenges
  • High ownership and impact where your work directly affects deployed systems
  • Fast-moving, engineering-driven environment
