Job Summary
The Network Monitoring Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network monitoring solutions to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of network infrastructure. This role focuses on proactive monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement of monitoring frameworks to enhance user experience and organizational productivity.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in network technologies, monitoring tools, and automation, and works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient monitoring capabilities aligned with organizational standards and strategic goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain in-house network monitoring solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective and scalable monitoring strategies
- Ensure proper monitoring coverage across all network systems and services
- Establish and maintain monitoring baselines, ensuring they remain accurate and up to date
- Continuously enhance monitoring solutions based on evolving business and technical requirements
- Analyze existing monitoring frameworks to identify opportunities for optimization, standardization, and automation
- Partner with support teams and stakeholders to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution
- Engage with vendors and external partners to address performance gaps and drive service improvements
- Contribute to process improvements and service excellence initiatives
- Document monitoring processes, configurations, and standards in line with governance requirements
- Ensure effective communication of monitoring insights and updates to stakeholders
- Evaluate and implement innovative ideas that improve efficiency, scalability, and value delivery
Key Skills & Expertise
- Minimum 10+ years of experience supporting network infrastructure and monitoring environments
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred, not mandatory)
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are highly preferred
- Strong experience in implementing and maintaining network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Checkmk, Nagios, or similar platforms
- Hands-on experience with network diagnostic tools like ThousandEyes
- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts including L2/L3, routing protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi
- Familiarity with enterprise network technologies such as LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela), and network security frameworks
- Experience with Cisco ISE and enterprise Wi-Fi authentication systems
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and integrations
- Basic exposure to AIOps platforms such as Moogsoft, BigPanda, or ServiceNow
- Understanding of cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on severity and business impact
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with global teams
