Data Platform Product Manager

Tenth Revolution Group
Norway · Full-time · Mid-Senior

They are a globally recognised technology and services organisation operating at scale across the energy sector. With decades of domain expertise and a strong reputation for engineering excellence, the business supports operators worldwide in optimising complex subsurface and production operations.

In recent years, the organisation has made significant strategic investments in digital platforms, cloud-native technologies, and data-driven products. A core differentiator is the ability to combine deep energy-domain knowledge with modern software and data platforms, enabling customers to unlock value from highly complex, high-volume datasets. Several internal digital capabilities are now being evolved into standalone, commercial SaaS offerings for external customers.

About

The Data Platform Product Manager is responsible for setting the direction, vision, and priorities of a data platform that is becoming a standalone, commercially viable product. While the application and user interface layer is led by an established General Manager, this role ensures the underlying data platform evolves with clear product ownership and strong market alignment.

The position focuses on shaping the platform as a domain specific data ingestion and consumption layer for the energy industry, ensuring it meets customer needs and supports external commercial use. The role bridges customers, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure product decisions are driven by value, usability, and long term strategy rather than purely technical considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end to end product vision and roadmap for the data platform, ensuring it supports both internal product teams and external customers
  • Engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand real world use cases and translate them into clear product capabilities and priorities
  • Work closely with engineering, data platform, and architecture teams to guide development and align technical decisions with product goals
  • Ensure the platform evolves as a scalable, reliable, and domain aware foundation for data ingestion, management, and consumption
  • Prioritise features and enhancements based on customer impact, commercial value, and strategic alignment
  • Define how the platform enables analytics, data science, and downstream applications through consistent and well governed data access
  • Act as the primary product representative for the data platform in cross functional discussions and decision making forums

Experience & Profile

Required

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for a data platform, data infrastructure product, or similarly technical B2B product
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including ingestion pipelines, schema evolution, APIs, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience working in enterprise or B2B SaaS product environments
  • Comfortable collaborating with senior engineers, architects, and platform teams
  • Able to translate complex technical topics into clear product decisions and customer value

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the energy industry, such as oil & gas, subsurface, well, or production data domains
  • Data science literacy — able to understand and discuss the needs of data scientists, analytics teams, and ML use cases
  • Experience taking internally focused platforms and evolving them into external, commercial products
