PreCommissioning & Commissioning System Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced PreCommissioning & Commissioning System Engineer to manage system based execution during the precommissioning and commissioning phases of a large LNG facility. The role focuses on system ownership from Mechanical Completion through precommissioning, commissioning, startup support, and handover to Operations.

This position is site based and suited to engineers with proven EPC commissioning experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as System Engineer for assigned process and or utility systems
• Define system boundaries, subsystems, and turnover packages
• Plan and execute precommissioning activities, including:
• Flushing, blowing, drying, leak testing, pressure testing
• Instrument loop checks and functional testing
• Electrical continuity, IR testing, and energisation readiness
• Verify Mechanical Completion (MC) and manage punch list clearance
• Execute commissioning activities in line with approved procedures
• Support startup, live testing, and initial operation of systems
• Coordinate closely with Construction, Engineering, Operations, HSE, and QA/QC teams
• Prepare and review commissioning procedures, test records, and system dossiers
• Report system progress, constraints, and risks to the Commissioning Manager
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE requirements, permits, and SIMOPS controls
  

Mandatory Requirements (Strict)

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, or equivalent)
  
  

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of oil & gas or LNG project experience
• Hands on precommissioning and commissioning experience on EPC projects
• Proven system based commissioning role from construction to startup
• Site experience on large scale LNG or gas processing facilities
  
  

Candidates without direct site commissioning experience will not be considered.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of commissioning workflows and system handover
• Ability to read and interpret:
• P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams
• Electrical single line diagrams
• Instrument loop diagrams
• Experience with commissioning databases and system dossiers
  

Professional Skills

• Strong coordination and interface management skills
• Practical, hands on problem solver
• Clear communication in English
• Comfortable working in high pressure, multicultural site environments
  
  

Ideal Background

• EPC contractor commissioning experience
• LNG precommissioning and commissioning phase exposure
• Middle East project experience (preferred)
