Role: Fullstack Software Engineer AI/ML
Location: Sydney Hybrid
Employment Type: Full time
About the Company
AI first software company building intelligent systems that power real world workflows at scale, within one of the largest global LegalTech organisations. You will be working on products used by tens of thousands of professionals worldwide, helping transform how knowledge, data, and decisioning are delivered through AI.
About the Role
This is a backend leaning full stack role focused on designing and building the intelligence layer behind AI powered systems. You will work on the orchestration and retrieval layer that sits between applications and the data they rely on, shaping how AI agents retrieve context, make decisions, and generate reliable outputs. This role goes beyond simple RAG pipelines. You will define how AI systems behave in production, including routing logic, tool usage, multi step workflows, and evaluation frameworks.
What You Will Be Doing
- AI Agent and Orchestration Systems - Design and build retrieval pipelines that combine structured and unstructured data sources, enabling AI agents to operate with context and accuracy.
- LLM Orchestration and Decisioning - Implement orchestration logic including routing, tool calling, multi step workflows, fallback strategies, and confidence thresholds.
- Grounded AI Systems - Ensure outputs are reliable and aligned with authoritative data sources, preserving business logic and data integrity across workflows.
- Evaluation and Observability - Build evaluation, monitoring, and regression frameworks to continuously measure and improve AI system performance.
- Backend Engineering Core Focus - Develop and scale APIs and services using .NET, supporting AI driven features in production environments.
- Frontend Collaboration - Work within React and TypeScript applications to deliver end to end AI features and seamless user experiences.
- Platform Thinking - Develop reusable orchestration patterns and tooling that can support future AI enabled products across the business.
About You
You are an engineer who understands that building AI systems is as much about architecture, data, and reliability as it is about models.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong experience with C# and .NET including ASP.NET Core, APIs, and middleware
- Experience working with LLMs in production environments
- Hands on experience with RAG, embeddings, or vector databases
- Experience designing and improving AI outputs for accuracy and consistency
- Experience with cloud environments AWS, Docker
- Comfortable contributing to frontend React and TypeScript when needed
- Strong understanding of API design, security OAuth JWT, and system performance
Nice to have
- Experience with multi step agent workflows or tool calling systems
- Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as Salesforce
- Exposure to AI evaluation or monitoring frameworks
- Experience working with structured business data or analytics layers
Working Rights
You must be based in Australia and have full working rights.
