A little bit about the role…

As the Intermediate Front-End Developer – Shopify at Kathmandu, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, responsive, and customer‑centric front‑end experiences across our Shopify ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with UX designers, the technical lead, business analysts, and senior developers to implement scalable, modern, mobile‑first front‑end solutions. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement across UI, accessibility, SEO, and user behaviour optimisation.


Day to day responsibilities include…

  • Implement Shopify theme updates with a strong mobile‑first approach, delivering clean, maintainable Liquid, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Optimise front‑end performance, accessibility, and SEO to ensure a fast, responsive customer experience.
  • Support front‑end development for new features, campaigns, and site enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the UX team to implement A/B tests, providing front‑end development support to build or modify components required for test setup and execution.
  • Work within structured workflows including ticket estimation, code reviews, QA processes, and testing.
  • Maintain GitHub branches and contribute to clean, consistent commit practices.
  • Participate in releases and post‑deployment checks under senior guidance.
  • Work closely with UX, digital product, and external development partners to ensure clear communication and robust delivery.
  • Support integrations and front‑end touchpoints with Loyalty, analytics, GTM, ContentSquare, and other digital platforms.
  • Contribute ideas for optimisation, scalability, and future improvements across the digital experience.


What You’ll Need…

  • 2–4+ years of front‑end development experience with Shopify.
  • Strong proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, version control workflows, and collaborative development practices.
  • Understanding of SEO principles, accessibility standards, and front‑end performance optimisation.
  • Experience with GTM, analytics tools, and A/B testing frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Familiarity with integrations between Shopify and third‑party tools (e.g., Loyalty platforms) is a bonus.


Key Outcomes and Accountabilities…

  • Deliver responsive, performant, and SEO‑friendly front‑end interfaces.
  • Ensure code aligns with Kathmandu’s design system and development standards.
  • Improve user engagement through strong execution of UX/UI design and front‑end best practices.
  • Maintain and enhance front‑end components and tools (e.g., Content Square, GTM).
  • Contribute to agile squad ceremonies and support continuous improvement.
  • Provide documentation to support internal knowledge sharing.
