Know how to ship Gen AI and agentic systems that work in production, not just in demos?
Horizon Digital is a Perth-based AI and software consultancy. We work with some of Australia's most recognisable enterprises and partner closely with the major global cloud providers to build AI and software solutions that actually go into production.
We're placing a senior AI engineer into a Gen AI build with one of our major cloud partners. The end client is a global resources heavyweight sitting on decades of exploration data locked away in laptops, USB drives and legacy formats. The work is to build a central, searchable, AI-powered data repository and the agentic tooling that lets geologists and analysts actually make sense of it all.
This is a great role for an experienced AI engineer who wants to go deep on a genuinely hard Gen AI problem, ship real production systems, and work alongside a senior team with executive sponsorship on both sides.
What you'll be doing:
- Building Gen AI features on top of a large, heterogeneous enterprise dataset using LLMs (Claude, Bedrock or similar)
- Designing and implementing agentic workflows that can reason across complex technical data
- Shipping production-grade AI applications end to end. Not prototypes, not notebooks
- Making architectural calls on data ingestion, normalisation, search and retrieval
- Working alongside the cloud partner's technical team and the client's data and subject matter experts
- Owning code quality, performance, and the non-glamorous bits that make AI systems actually work
- Writing clean, well-tested Python (and likely some TypeScript)
What you'll bring:
- Senior AI engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-grade systems
- Hands-on Gen AI experience with commercial LLMs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Bedrock or similar). Not just proof of concepts
- Experience building agentic workflows using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph or similar
- Strong software engineering fundamentals. Python is a must, TypeScript a plus
- Cloud-native architecture experience, ideally on AWS (Bedrock, Lambda, S3, OpenSearch)
- Comfort working with messy, unstructured, legacy enterprise data
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus points:
- Mining or oil and gas exploration domain experience
- Exposure to geoscience, geochemistry or other technical scientific data types
- Previous AWS Partner delivery work
- Experience with RAG (retrieval augmented generation) on large unstructured corpora
Why this role?
- Genuinely hard Gen AI problem. Not a chatbot proof of concept, a real enterprise build
- Senior executive sponsorship on both the client and cloud partner side
- Full lifecycle work. Ingestion, architecture, agentic tooling and application layer
- The kind of engagement that positions you for more of the same in the enterprise AI space
