The Why
The Junior Security Analyst will support the Ubank Security Operations function by monitoring, analysing, and triaging security events across multiple platforms. The Why
The Junior Security Analyst will support the Ubank Security Operations function by monitoring, analysing, and triaging security events across multiple platforms. This role requires strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. The position includes a mandatory on‑call rotation to support after‑hours incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and triage security alerts across enterprise security tools.
- Perform initial investigation and classification of potential security incidents.
- Escalate events to senior analysts or incident response teams as required.
- Support daily operational security tasks, reporting, and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining security controls and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Participate in the on‑call roster to provide after‑hours coverage for critical alerts.
- Contribute to improving playbooks, runbooks, and process documentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, investigations, and actions using JIRA (ticketing) and Confluence (knowledge base).
The candidate must have foundational knowledge or willingness to learn log analysis and triage across the following platforms:
- Qualys
- Understanding of vulnerability scan results.
- Ability to identify high‑risk vulnerabilities and escalate appropriately.
- Basic knowledge of asset discovery and vulnerability lifecycle.
- Microsoft Purview
- Ability to review and triage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) alerts.
- Understanding of sensitive data classifications and policy triggers.
- Support investigation of data movement, sharing, or exfiltration events.
- Zscaler (ZIA & ZPA)
- Ability to analyse web traffic logs and identify suspicious behaviour.
- Understanding of URL filtering, access control, and policy enforcement.
- Support whitelisting requests following security validation.
- Basic understanding of Zero Trust Access (ZPA) logs and user access patterns.
- CrowdStrike Falcon
- Ability to review endpoint detection and response (EDR) alerts.
- Understanding of behavioural detections, malware indicators, and suspicious processes.
- Support containment actions under guidance from senior analysts.
- Participation in a rotating on‑call schedule (after hours and weekends).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow documented procedures and playbooks.
- Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, threat types, incident lifecycle).
- Degree or certification in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Any exposure to SOC, security tools, or IT operations is beneficial.
