CAD Technician

Location: Clonskeagh, Dublin

Contract type: Permanent



Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed CAD drawings and plans using Civil 3D, AutoCAD 2D, and Revit.
  • Assist in the development of civil and structural designs based on engineer or architect specifications.
  • Generate accurate technical drawings for drainage, roads, and structural projects.
  • Prepare and maintain General Arrangement drawings.
  • Perform basic structural and civil analysis using relevant software tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze and interpret data related to civil and structural elements.
  • Conduct clash detection using Navisworks to ensure design coordination.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of design changes, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Ensure all drawings and documents comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project team members to understand project requirements.
  • Communicate technical updates clearly to internal teams and construction personnel.
  • Review drawings and designs for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to assess construction progress and resolve design-related issues.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving potential issues during the design and construction phases.
  • Support project teams in quality control and technical problem-solving as required.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or above in Civil Engineering, Engineering, or Surveying.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil/structural design, with exposure to drainage and roads.
  • Proven experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD 2D, Revit, and CAD drafting for structural projects.
  • Experience leading clash detection using Navisworks is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Irish building and planning legislation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering practices, construction methods, and structural design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


Preferred Skills:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIAT, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Experience with CADS RC, Civil 3D, AutoCAD 2D, Revit, and Navisworks.
