Middle .NET Engineer

Forte Group
Poland · Full-time · Mid-Senior

As a Software Engineer, you build and improve production-grade software within established patterns and guardrails, delivering well-scoped features and technical slices at a steady pace. You will use AI routinely to accelerate delivery while staying accountable for correctness, security, quality, and control.

You will work closely with senior engineers and the Principal Engineer to shape solutions, learn the platform standards, and increase your scope and independence over time. This role exists to help the tribe ship high-quality capability quickly and consistently, while developing your skills in AI-first engineering and production-grade delivery in a regulated environment.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Mission Delivery

  • Delivers well-scoped features and technical tasks end-to-end, with support from senior engineers when needed
  • Breaks work into small increments, keeps PRs focused, and communicates progress and risks early
  • Clarifies requirements and constraints before building; asks questions early to avoid rework
  • Builds software that meets the tribe’s bar for correctness, maintainability, and operability

AI-First Delivery System (How we build):

  • Uses AI routinely to accelerate delivery (drafting code, tests, docs), and validates outputs rather than accepting them blindly
  • Works effectively within the tribe’s AI-first PDLC, following established patterns, templates, and “golden prompts”
  • Applies verification discipline appropriate to scope: unit tests, integration tests where relevant, edge cases, and basic threat/abuse considerations
  • Contributes improvements to the delivery system: suggests refinements to templates, prompts, docs, and checks based on what slows delivery or causes defects
  • Participates actively in code review: requests reviews early, responds quickly, and learns from feedback

Technical Delivery:

  • Implements robust services and features in modern C# / .NET aligned to the tribe’s architecture and standards
  • Works effectively with SQL/No-SQL: writes safe queries, understands indexing basics, and uses migrations correctly
  • Builds APIs with clear contracts and consistent error handling, applying established resilience patterns
  • Writes and maintains automated tests as part of delivery (unit as default; integration/contract when appropriate)
  • Keeps documentation current as part of delivery (with agents drafting), ensuring it’s accurate and useful

Quality, Security & Production Readiness (Speed with Control):

  • Meets the tribe’s quality bar: follows testing standards, passes automated gates, and fixes issues quickly when found
  • Builds with observability defaults in mind: structured logs, meaningful events, and correlation/traceability where required
  • Understands and follows safe release practices: changes are reversible, diagnosable, and measurable in production
  • Follows regulated controls and security basics: least privilege, secure coding defaults, and audit-friendly behaviours

Collaboration & Culture:

  • Collaborates effectively with Product, UX, QA, and Engineering to deliver outcomes
  • Shares progress proactively, asks for help when needed, and supports teammates
  • Demonstrates continuous learning: adopts feedback quickly and applies it to future work
  • Helps create a positive, high-tempo team culture aligned to client’s values

Key Competencies

Technical:

  • Solid experience building software in modern C# / .NET and contributing to production systems
  • Working knowledge of SQL/No-SQL and data modelling; understands safe query patterns and performance basics
  • Able to reason about correctness, edge cases, and failure modes for the features you build
  • Comfortable working with CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing practices
  • Can explain your approach and trade-offs clearly to peers

AI-First Engineering (Must Have):

  • Uses AI as a routine delivery partner to accelerate implementation, and validates outputs with tests and review
  • Can follow and apply established patterns, templates, and guardrails so delivery stays fast and consistent
  • Shows good judgement about when to ask for support, and how to incorporate feedback quickly

Non Technical:

  • Accountable and delivery-focused; follows through and communicates clearly
  • Collaborative and receptive to feedback; learns quickly
  • Pragmatic and quality-minded: balances pace with correctness and control
  • Customer-aware mindset suited to regulated, mission-critical environments

Required Education & Experience

  • Experience as a software engineer contributing to production systems (typically 2–5 years, depending on your levelling)
  • Experience with modern .NET / C# and SQL/No-SQL in delivery teams using code reviews, testing, and CI/CD
  • Evidence of strong engineering fundamentals and ability to learn quickly in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong academic background, including a degree in a STEM subject discipline, or equivalent experience

How Success Will be Measures

This role is measured on outcomes and how they’re achieved: faster delivery, production-grade quality, and controlled change

  • Flow: DORA (lead time, deploy frequency, change failure rate, MTTR)
  • Quality: Quality Health Indicator (defect escape, time to resolve, severity trend, etc)
  • DX: Developer Experience Score (shipping friction, golden path usability)
  • AI leverage: throughput up without rework/escapes; high adoption of AI workflow & golden paths
  • Assurance: automated gates coverage (tests/security/observability/performance) and review effectiveness (low rollback/rework)
  • Production & controls: SLO attainment, incident/severity trend, and audit-ready traceability of changes/approvals
  • Behaviours: AI-first by default (uses agents effectively, follows guardrails, verifies outputs); strong ownership; learns fast; control-aware decisions.”

Associated Values and Behaviours

  • Personable and approachable, with an enthusiastic, motivational nature and a passion for excellence
  • Operates with integrity and accountability; sets a high bar while creating an environment where others can succeed
  • Culturally aware and inclusive; collaborates respectfully across disciplines and backgrounds
  • Drives continuous learning, personally and across the tribe, embracing modern practices including AI-enabled delivery
