About the Role

Our client is seeking a Medior UX Designer (Freelance) to join their Central Team for a 13-month project based in Brussels. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping digital experiences that impact millions, working on multiple high-impact projects within the Loketplatform ecosystem. This is your opportunity to drive meaningful change in public digital services, ensuring every interaction is intuitive, accessible, and future-ready.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Translating concepts, ideas, and analyses into wireframes and prototypes for both web and mobile applications
• Developing conceptual ideas for new integrations and refining detailed screens during the analysis phase
• Ensuring handover-ready deliverables for developers and monitoring the development process to maintain design integrity
• Proactively optimizing user experience and accessibility, leveraging the Flanders Design System
• Collaborating closely with project managers, product owners, business and functional analysts
• Participating actively in Agile Scrum ceremonies and contributing to sprint goals within a multidisciplinary team
• Designing content-driven pages and ensuring consistency across platforms
• Implementing designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript where required
• Championing inclusive and accessible design, adhering to WCAG standards

Technical Skills

• Demonstrable experience as a UX Designer (mid-level)
• Expertise in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Invision, and Figma
• Strong knowledge of responsive screen design and UI frameworks
• Experience designing within an existing design system
• Proficiency in implementing designs with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with content design and creating content-driven pages
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory

Other Requirements

• Signed NDA document to be uploaded
• Documented explanation of experience developing wireframes within an existing design system
• Demonstrable experience working within a government context (preferred)
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
• Strong communicator, team player, independent, and results-driven
• To the point, no-nonsense attitude
