Network Engineer

Salt is currently hiring a Network Engineer(design) for a client of ours in Munich and Dusseldorf.

Network Engineer (Design)

Contract: 6 months (with extension)

Location: Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite in Munich or Düsseldorf

Language Requirement: Strong German skills required (B2 minimum; B1 considered if progressing to B2). German assessment for non-native speakers.

Overview

Responsible for day-to-day engineering of LAN/WAN and wireless production networks. Works closely with Real Estate and Service Delivery teams in a global environment, requiring strong technical expertise and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, resilient network solutions
• Develop low-level designs (configurations, cabling, diagrams)
• Support wireless design, signal optimization, and coverage planning
• Ensure optimal network performance and availability
• Support office moves and network renewals
• Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis
• Manage vendor lifecycle and align on roadmaps
• Evaluate managed service providers
• Track availability and reduce recurring incidents

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Aruba wireless (design, management, standardization)
• Experience in global enterprise environments
• Wireless survey tools (Airwave VisualRF preferred, Ekahau, AirMagnet)
• High-density wireless network design and troubleshooting
• Solid routing/switching knowledge and tiered network design
• SD-WAN experience (VeloCloud)
• Deep understanding of 802.11, RF propagation, and antenna technologies
• RF optimization, interference analysis, and troubleshooting
• Experience with voice over wireless (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
